June News:

Shandong University Liaison

Jerry recently met with Dr. Guodang Zheng of the Shandong University School of Political Science and Public Administration to discuss the Canadian local governance systems from the perspective of a CAO. Dr. Zheng is currently studying in BC through the University of Victoria School of Public Administration. Jerry has been asked to write a paper for publication in China focusing primarily on Rule of Law in Canadian Governance.

Local Government Educators Meeting at LGMA Annual Conference

Jerry will be an invited participant at the local government educators’ session organized by LGMA in parallel with its Annual General Meeting in Nanaimo in June.

The Capilano University School of Public Administration will celebrate 20 years of Capilano University Local Government Programs at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on June 22, 2016. Jerry is a faculty member in the School, a past presenter and mentor at innumerable MATI Programs, and a past MATI Chairperson. Linn Teetzel, Professor Emeritus and ‘God Mother’ of the program will attend along with lots of students, friends and colleagues of Jerry Berry Consultants Inc.

Fall 2016 News

Jerry was an invited speaker, along with Guillermo Ferrero at the annual Clerks and Corporate Officers seminar held in Parksville on November 27th.

Jerry was a guest speaker recently at the VILGMA meeting held in Campbell River November 16 /17, as well as an invited speaker at the Rowing BC Annual AGM in Richmond on November 17.

Both Jerry and Gary Nason attended the School of Public Administration Faculty event at UVIC on Nov 09. It was good to meet with many local government administrative professionals, colleagues, academic experts and students.

Gary Nason is acting as an advisor to the Provincial Auditor General for Local Government on HR issues.

 

 

News for First Quarter 2017

Jerry was invited to speak on Ethics and Communications at the LGLA session  held in Richmond on Feb 03. The session  built on themes discussed by Jerry at his talk for the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy at the University of BC, held February 19, 2016.

Jerry , and Gary Nason  acted as faculty members at the Municipal Administration and Training Institute CAO session  held in Victoria in mid-February.

 

Andy Laidlaw appeared as a guest speaker at the 2017 CAO’s Conference sponsored by the Local Government Management Association.

 

Jerry taught the Spring session of PLAN 624 “Planners, Politicians and Political Minefields”,  for the Vancouver Island University School of Planning.

 

Jerry participated as a Civic Thought Leader in the Dalhousie University Executive Certificate in Local Government Program in March, 2017.
